Tottenham are interested in signing Leicester City winger Demari Gray – and have opened preliminary talks with the Foxes, according to Football Insider.

The 24-year-old has been linked with Spurs in the past and having moved the final year of his contract, Jose Mourinho’s men could now sign the former England U21 international at a cut-price – with Leicester desperate to avoid letting Gray leave on a free transfer next summer.

Gray joined the Foxes midway through their title winning campaign in 2015-2016, but despite making more than 150 appearances under four different managers, has never established himself as a regular in the starting XI and just three Premier League starts last term.

And now the Insider believe that Gray, who scored three goals and added two assists in the league as Leicester narrowly missed out on a top-four place on the final day of last season, is open to a move to Tottenham and has been personally contacted by Mourinho.

Including the likes of Ryan Sessegnon and Erik Lamela, the Spurs boss already has an abundance of wide players, but with the Portuguese facing the prospect of a hectic schedule in the early months of the campaign in the Premier League, Europa League and Carabao Cup, signing another attacker would be a wise decision.

  1. Signing a center forward maybe the genius move of this generation. Why as a club we continue to let Kane weigh is down. He needs help and if he leaves, so be it, but we need a another top class striker in the club until parrot is ready. I think he is but i dont pay the bill

  2. I can’t believe our priority doesn’t seem to buy a centre forward as cover for H bareing in mind his record for injuries and our horrendous fixture programme.

  3. Should have bought him from Birmingham City years ago when he was a bargain , At the most he’s a squad player if we want to achieve success we better aim higher than Gray
