Tottenham will be hoping to continue their perfect European record this season when they travel to Royal Antwerp in their second Group J game.

Jose Mourinho’s won three one-leg qualifiers before comfortably beating LASK of Austria in north London last Thursday to move top of the group.

Spurs, currently on a ten-match unbeaten run in all competitions, will travel to Belgium full of confidence, but without two regulars for tomorrow’s game.

Defender Japhet Tanganga has already been confirmed out injured with a thigh problem, but when speaking to the press this evening, Mourinho revealed that both Eric Dier and Tanguy Ndombele, who started at Burnley on Monday, haven’t travelled for the match.

Press Association’s Jonathan Veal said that the Frenchman hasn’t been risked due to a “slight niggle” he picked up at Turf Moor, whilst Dier is still suffering from the problem he picked up during England’s Nations League game against Belgium earlier this month.

Deadline Day signing Joe Rodon, Gedson Fernandes and Paulo Gazzaniga are all ineligible having not been named in Tottenham’s Europa League squad and therefore won’t be involved.

  1. Sanchez should enjoy his football as much as possible now as Rodon Dier Davies will all likely be ahead of him for a CB starting spot

  2. Prior to Rodon Spurs only have 2 centrebacks with adequate aerial ability and those are Dier and Sanchez. Dier is ok when we play a deep line but his lack of speed makes him a liability when we push forward. Sanchez has outstanding recovery speed but needs to reduce the errors. So you play Sanchez when we will be on the front foot and Dier when we play deep.

  3. We need 2 CB. Sanchez has the pace required but liable to mistakes, Dier is too slow so will struggle if playing a high line or players running at him, Tanganga is always injured and Toby is past his best. Rodon we will have to wait and see but need 2 quality CB minimum. Dier is doing better than I thought he would……so far.
