Jose Mourinho has revealed that Giovani Lo Celso is around two weeks away from returning from injury.

The Argentine attacking midfielder has been out since sustaining a hamstring problem in the defeat to Leicester City before Christmas – missing 18 matches in all competitions.

Lo Celso returned to training last week, but Mourinho didn’t sound too confident that the 24-year-old would be fit enough to feature before the North London derby on Sunday week.

But when asked Lo Celso’s condition ahead of Thursday’s trip to Fulham, Mourinho confirmed that the former PSG man is still a couple of weeks away from being able to play.

He said: “[He’s] training with the team but it was a big injury, we’re not going to risk [him] yet. In fact, we don’t want to risk, we want to bring him to the team and competition when there’s no risk. One week, two more weeks. Apart from that, everyone OK. One more training session after this but everyone OK.” (Quotes via the Evening Standard).

With Spurs still in the Europa League and a host of Premier League games left to play, it’s important that Mourinho has everyone at his disposal, which incudes Lo Celso, meaning his long-awaited return will be a major boost for the Tottenham boss.
