Ryan Mason has suggested Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will have a “long hard think” about the club’s future in the coming weeks as the search for a new manager ramps up.

Spurs’ slim Champions League chances were all but ended by Leeds United on Sunday, though there are still faint hopes of a top four finish going into the final three Premier League games of the season.

In any case, Tottenham need a new manager to lead the team next term after a disastrous campaign mostly overseen by Jose Mourinho.

Mason believes whoever comes in next season will have a good group of players to work with, but he has also suggested Levy has a lot of thinking to do over the summer.

“It’s a big squad. It’s a very good squad as well,” Mason said (via the London Evening Standard).

“There’s definitely tools to work with for next season and I’m sure the chairman and the football club will have a long hard think about the direction the football club wants to go.”

On Monday we relayed a Standard story that claimed Gareth Southgate may be interested in taking the Spurs job, while Brendan Rodgers, Graham Potter and Ralph Rangnick are still chief among the candidates.

It will be an interesting summer, that’s for sure.

  1. That is it Levy;have a long hard think about it and decide just before the new season starts; whoever that is that comes on , will be a failure.
That is the Spursey way; has been and always will be.

  2. No longer have any faith in him or his board and any decisions they make.
We are a laughing stock and its getting worse as long as they are in charge !

  3. Levy has done a huge financial job at Spurs. Best Stadium in the world, Training facilities among the best. Huge financial revenue. Best run club financially… But he is NOT A FOOTBALL MAN. Joe Lewis needs to sell our club, to someone who has an interest in the game. Top managers don’t like being handcuffed. For the first time EVER…. I am considering NOT RENEWING MY SEASON TICKET.

  4. You are bang on Simon.
The only thing Levy and the board will react to is if we fans don’t renew.A half empty stadium and the penny might just drop.
The fans have shown “Fan Power” with the latest episode on the failed ESL.All singing from the same hymn sheet.Either Enic sell up and go or they seriously invest in the playing squad.Am convinced that Harry will give it another season with a GUARANTEE of investment even during these difficult tines(for all clubs throughout Europe, not just Spurs).I don’t mean going for Mbappe or Haaland, but not stumbling on a few Million.
It makes my blood boil to think we were inches away from signing Grealish in 2018 and Bruno Fernandes in 2019.Can you imagine what we could have accomplished with them on board and both wanted and expected to join us.For an extra few million, we could have made tens of millions extra, so don’t come to me with the Daniel Levy being a good business man.He could make a certain £20 with a £5 note.Really quite pathetic.
Having said that, I just can’t see Enic changing their ways, but I guess one can always live in hope.
