Ledley King is no longer a part of Tottenham’s first-team coaching staff, according to reports.

The club legend sat alongside Jose Mourinho in the dugout having been promoted from an ambassadorial role to coach when the recently-sacked manager arrived.

But Football London’s Alasdair Gold says King will now ‘return to his ambassadorial duties’, which include commercial, charity and media events.

And so it looks like King’s short-lived coaching career has come to an end – unless a future manager decides the team is better served with him on the bench.

No doubt King’s influence is huge at Spurs and he will have had a positive effect on the players during Mourinho’s tenure.

However, it seems either the club, Nuno or King himself – or a combination of the three – have decided an ambassadorial role is currently best for the 40-year-old.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have confirmed Nuno’s coaching staff, with Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias all joining Nuno’s staff from Wolves.

Ryan Mason, who took charge of the final few games of last season, has returned to his academy job.

  1. Loved Ledley as a player, one of our greatest and a true playing Legend. That said, our defence looked the worse when he started helping in coaching the central defenders.

  2. Do wish ALL the press outlets would stop saying this.
Ledley was on the coaching staff but his position was tactical analyst, NOT defence coach.
(I’m sure if he did have any input into coaching, they’d have performed better than they did last season!)

    • Good I loved ledley as a player but as a coach no. Anyone who thinks dier has a place in our club has lost their head. Best place for dier is in the stands beside his brother.
