Tottenham have confirmed the departure of Erik Lamela as part of a deal that will see Bryan Gil join from Sevilla.

Gil, who impressed during a loan spell at Eibar in La Liga last season, has signed a five-year contract with Spurs. He has three senior international caps for Spain.

Spanish defender Sergio Reguilon helped out with Gil’s arrival confirmation, urging Tottenham to “ANNOUNCE IT” on Monday afternoon.

The club duly delivered with a video consisting of Gil mocked-up in a Spurs shirt. It’s unclear what shirt number he will wear yet, but 11 is available…

That’s because Lamela has finally left north London after eight years with Tottenham, whom he joined from AS Roma in the summer of 2013.

The Argentine shared an emotional message to the supporters on Instagram, saying “this club has my heart.” Read the entire thing below.

Lamela was inconsistent and injury-prone but he was fully committed every time he pulled on the shirt, and for that he is admired by many Spurs fans.

Hopefully Gil will be able to properly fulfil the potential that was expected from Lamela.
