Dele Alli and Gareth Bale are among Newcastle United’s January transfer targets, according to reports in Spain.
It doesn’t take much investigative journalism to predict that Newcastle – having finally been taken over by a Saudi Arabia-backed consortium – are probably going to spend big in the January window and next summer.
And it seems a couple of players with Tottenham connections could be on the club’s shortlist.
Spanish outlet Sport claims Newcastle are keen on Alli, though the report doesn’t go into much more detail on the Spurs midfielder.
Alli had been featuring regularly this season before a couple of disappointing performances saw him dropped from the starting line-up for the recent victory over Aston Villa – could that mean he is open to an exit?
Meanwhile, Newcastle are thought to be interested in Bale, who spent last season on loan Tottenham and is out of contract at Real Madrid next summer.
Sport’s story says Real could accept an offer in the region of €30 million for Bale in January – whether Newcastle are willing to pay that much remains to be seen.
