Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has revealed that Steven Bergwijn is likely to miss the trip to Watford on New Year’s Day.

The Dutchman has made just one start under Conte, but did make the most of his rare chance when he scored one and assisted in the Carabao Cup victory over West Ham last Wednesday.

Bergwijn was rewarded with the final 26 minutes against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day, but wasn’t involved against Southampton 48 hours later on Monday.

When was asked about the winger’s absence, Conte said that he suffered a calf injury against Palace and could miss around 10 days, which would keep him out of the Watford game, plus the FA Cup tie with Morecambe and first leg semi-final with Chelsea next Wednesday.

When asked if he will be fit enough to play at Vicarage Road, Conte said: “I don’t think so. During the game against Crystal Palace, he felt a problem in his calf. He has a muscular problem and he needs to recover more time than 10 days or only a week.”

Furthermore, Conte confirmed that Ryan Sessegnon, Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero all remain out.
