Yesterday afternoon saw confirmation of the £15m signing of Moussa Dembele and the Belgian international could go straight into the side for Saturday’s visit of Norwich City. The 25 year old spoke to the press after the deal went through and expressed his delight at joining the club.

“I’m happy to join Spurs. It’s a fantastic club,” Dembele said on the club’s official website.

“You can see over the last few years that Spurs have played well. Everybody knows it’s a good team and a good club and that’s why I wanted to come here.

“The club have plans to do lots of good things and that’s why I want to be a part of it.”

Moussa also said that he was looking forward to linking up with fellow Belgian Jan Vertonghen.

“I know Jan from when I was 10 years old. We played together then,” he added. “I know him well. He’s a great guy and he’s said a lot of good things about this club.

“He says there are friendly people here and, for me, that’s very important – to feel great somewhere. I’m sure I will here.”

Dembele should be available for Saturday’s game but will he make the starting XI or will AVB start the Belgian on the bench?

  1. Fantastic signing. Cracking player. No chance he’ll start Saturday as we know how Andre works, not enough training for a start. I can see him coming on regardless of the score to be perfectly frank. Exciting stuff.

  2. It will be interesting to see who’s in the starting 11. There looks to be a lot of movement over the next day or so. The squad has needed an overhaul for the last couple of seasons. If all the reported changes happen, picking the starting 11 will be anybodys guess. COYS

  3. He has got to start ahead of Livermore.

For some reason I cant see AVB dropping him though due to his silly loyalty, I do like AVB but he is already pissing me off with playing 2 holding midfielders at home, makes no sense.

  4. Agree with you James. This guy will prove to be an ample replacement for Modric. He will sit in beside Sandro In the 4231 or on the left in a 433 . He is cracking to watch and will be a spurs legend. Hopefully these lads all click together on sat. It’s a new look spurs. Lets hope the project works!

    • I wasn’t there so i’m only going on what i’ve read, but by all accounts Livermore was one of our better players against West Brom..

  5. He should start. Jake Livermore should drop to the bench – i can’t see us doing well with him in our starting line-up.
