The transfer window will be open in just a few days’ time so hopefully a lot of the current gossip will turn into confirmed deals as Brazilian Paulinho even outscores Gareth Bale when it comes to a headline count right now.

Tottenham could also shift some of the deadwood very quickly after taking a more ruthless approach to our fringe players once Harry Redknapp had left the club. So who will be our first departure, disregarding those who were already out of contract?

The name in most frames is another Brazilian – reserve goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes who may be set for a reunion with his old club PSV Eindhoven. The stopper spent four years in Holland before joining up with Spurs in 2008 and after losing his place to Brad Friedel and Hugo Lloris in turn, Gomes has often spoken about returning.

“At PSV, I experienced the best time of my career. I’ve always said that I would return to PSV. Maybe that time is now,” Heurelho said in April this year.

Now it seems he may get his wish with reports coming out of Holland suggesting that the new PSV coach Phillip Cocu has put the 32 year old at the top of his shopping list.

Gomes impressed while on loan to Hoffenheim last season where his performances helped the club to survive in the Bundesliga and that spell should lead to a permanent deal with more game time for this likeable yet flawed keeper.

  1. I will forever remember his incredible saves against AC in the CL, but for every quality save he made (and he can make osme of the best you will see!!) there are too many errors to outweigh em,.

Remember the howlers against fuhlam and cheatski? – Im proably missing a few others! Gomez is a cracking chap, but I just cant handle the heart attacks! ;()

  2. Every save he makes seems so good because we’re on the edge of our seat waiting for the howler. We can’t get this guy off the books fast enough. I’m sure he’ll be fine for someone else but confidence is everything in nets and he’s not gonna ever get it at Spurs.

  3. That bloke saved some shots he had no right to save, cracking shot stopper. Shame he can’t catch the ball though. Hugo is the best keeper we have had for donkeys years.
