Six days into January and it’s been a quiet period so far for Spurs in this new transfer window but it’s unlikely to stay that way as the month develops. Improvements in results on the pitch have lessened the talk about possible targets but the management still have plenty of deadwood that they would like to clear over the coming four weeks.

Suddenly, the defence looks particularly crowded and with Kyle Walker returned to fitness and DeAndre Yedlin crossing from the MLS earlier than scheduled, it could finally be the end of the road for Kyle Naughton.

Although the 26 year old started the season in the right back slot, an immediate sending off against West Ham started a frustrating campaign, one which saw a further dismissal and a long term ankle injury that keeps Naughton on the sidelines. In his absence, Eric Dier and Vlad Chiriches have both covered while in reality, they were both just keeping the slot warm for Walker.

Crystal Palace, Swansea and Leicester have all been mentioned in connection with a bid and while all three of those links and more appeared in the summer, surely this is the time for Kyle Naughton to move on to the next stage of his career?
