Tottenham have agreed a deal with Stoke City for the transfer of defender Kevin Wimmer, both clubs have announced.
Stoke have confirmed the fee for Wimmer is £18 million. He has signed a five-year deal.

Spurs completed a deal for Ajax centre-back Davinson Sanchez last week. Young Argentine defender Juan Foyth is also set to join, leaving Wimmer surplus to requirements.
The Austrian joined Tottenham from Koln for £4.3m in the summer of 2015. The club looks set to make quite the profit on a player who barely featured in the first team last season.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the news.

#thfc Fare-thee-well, Kev.
He was pretty solid but not considered quick or mobile enough by Poch to play the high line. https://t.co/ozmSADXqlO

If Kevin Wimmer is worth £18m Spurs should hold out for £35 for Moussa Sissoko.

Wimmer had a good few months but ultimately struggled to repeat it when called up after. I wish him well.

#thfc Wimmer looked ropey last season but was often playing in a weakened team. Should be a good signing for Stoke, with regular game time.

Suppose you could say they’re the net Wimmers…

Makes 15 PL appearances

Increase of almost £1m per game #THFC

£18m for Wimmer. That’s 3.4 Dele Allis by my reckoning ? #GetToWorkSpurs

Very good player and a great signing for Stoke. He deserves first team football so I cant begrudge his move but I think he still had a lot to offer Spurs. Best of luck to him!
Wish him all best good player but needs to play week in week out to keep his performances up all the best Kevin wimmer
Good luck Kevin. You really stepped up when Jan was injured two years ago. Stoke will be good for you.
