Mousa Dembele could leave Tottenham for the Chinese Super League in January, according to the Sun.

The midfielder has less than 12 months remaining on his current contract and was linked with a transfer to China or Italy over the summer.

Dembele failed to secure a move away from Tottenham and has started in each of the last two games, suggesting Mauricio Pochettino still sees him as a key member of the first-team squad.

However, the Sun believes Chinese Super League club Beijing Sinobo Guoan want to sign the Belgian in the January transfer window ahead of the start of their new campaign in February.

They are apparently willing to offer Dembele wages of £192,000 per week, a huge increase on his current salary with Spurs.

It is unclear whether Tottenham are willing to let the 31-year-old leave midway through the season, but Harry Winks’ return to fitness could tempt them to let Dembele go.

Reports suggest Spurs are keeping tabs on Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong, who would be a suitable replacement should Dembele leave in January.
