Tottenham welcome Borussia Dortmund to Wembley on Wednesday night for a huge Champions League Round of 16 first leg clash, and Mauricio Pochettino has a number of decisions to make regarding his team selection.

Ben Davies (groin) and Danny Rose (gashed shin) have been ruled out, although Rose could be on the bench. Jan Vertonghen will start on the left, with Toby Alderweireld coming in to partner Davinson Sanchez in the middle. Kieran Trippier should get the nod on the right.

In midfield we think Pochettino will recall Eric Dier, who missed the Leicester game with a virus. Dier will provide a bit more protection for the defence, allowing Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko to think about driving the team forward. Christian Eriksen will play at the tip of the diamond.

Fernando Llorente started against Leicester, but Pochettino might want to play quicker football against Dortmund, so Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura could form a rapid strike partnership. Llorente and Erik Lamela will be useful options from the bench.

Here’s our predicted line-up to face Dortmund – what’s yours? Let us know in the comments section below.

  1. On the right, if Trippier starts and he pushes too high up in support of the attack, Poch must instruct Sissoko or Dier to cover him in case our attacks break down. I think Dortmund will exploit that and attack us on the left and we will concede goals. Other players need to give more support to Tripp because he tends to get catch out of position when defending. We hope Poch can solve this problem out starting from now and as soon as tonight’s game. COYS, we believe in you and don’t let us down!

  2. I think we need Llorente with Son and Lucas latching onto the flicks and nod downs.

Gives us an option if we get pressed deep.

Dier isn’t the one for me. This is an area we’re we lack someone who can boss the play. Fernandinho style.

Winks needs to be more positive and play more adventurous forward balls.
