Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing on-loan Cardiff City midfielder Victor Camarasa, according to reports in Spain.

Camarasa joined Cardiff from Real Betis last summer on a season-long loan and has scored five goals and provided five assists in 27 Premier League appearances this season.

The 24-year-old could suffer relegation to the Championship if Cardiff fail to turn around their current form, putting a host of top-flight clubs on alert as the Bluebirds are unlikely to sign him permanently if they drop down a division.

Spanish outlet Marca (via Sky Sports) claims Spurs are among the clubs interested, although they will apparently face competition from West Ham United and Leicester City.

It is believed Camarasa has a £20 million release clause in his Betis contract, making him a very affordable option in today’s market.

West Ham and Leicester will probably be able to offer the Spaniard more regular football than Tottenham, but the potential lure of Champions League football could attract Camarasa to north London.

It will be interesting to see if any reliable British outlets pick up on the story in the coming days.
