Martin Jol has urged Tottenham Hotspur to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax this summer.

Spurs have been linked with with Ziyech in the past. Reports in the Netherlands suggested the Londoners were battling Bayern Munich and Inter Milan for the attacker’s signature back in may.

Ziyech scored a stunning goal against Tottenham to put Ajax 3-0 up on aggregate in the Champions League semi-finals – we all know what happened next.

The Moroccan is expected to leave the Amsterdam Arena this summer and Spurs have now been urged to make a move for him.

Jol, who has managed both Tottenham and Ajax, has suggested Ziyech is the Ajax player the Premier League club should be looking at.

“If I was Spurs I would go for Hakim Ziyech and then you’ve got Donny van de Beek, but the thing is now Ajax can ask £70m or £80m for their stars,” Jol said (via Football London).

“The old days are over. You can’t get Ajax players for £12m or £15m. That time is over. Tottenham need very good scouts and people to find players.”

It’s interesting that Jol mentions Van de Beek, too, given that Spurs are said to be leading the race for the midfielder’s signature alongside Manchester United.

Unfortunately for Ajax, it looks like they will have a difficult time keeping hold of their star players this summer after an incredible 2018/19 campaign.

Tottenham will be hoping they can sign at least one of those players.
