Tottenham are considering a move for Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen, according to the London Evening Standard.

Andersen has been linked with Spurs a number of times in the past, particularly by the Italian press.

Back in April we relayed reports suggesting Tottenham were keeping tabs on the centre-back, who was said to be valued at around £17.3 million at the time.

And now, the Evening Standard claims Spurs are looking at Anderson as a potential replacement for Toby Alderweireld amid uncertainty around the Belgian’s future.

Alderweireld has a £25 million release clause that can be triggered this summer, meaning there is a good chance he will be on his way out of the club.

With that in mind, it makes sense that Tottenham are drawing up a list of possible centre-back targets ahead of what could be a busy few weeks.

Andersen, 23, made 32 league appearances last season as Sampdoria secured a ninth-placed finish in Serie A.

Whether the Dane is ready to come straight into the Spurs team is up for debate – he is yet to make a senior appearance for his country.

  1. id get him anyway and put Alderweireld in our problem position of right back. Shift Vertonghen to left back , he’s the best crosser of a ball in the club, and pair Sanchez with Andersen. A very solid back 4 !!!
