Some of the names currently being linked with a move to White Hart Lane are beginning to suggest an air of desperation and it’s hard to believe that Mauro Zarate could possibly be the answer to our goal scoring issues.

Reports suggest that the Argentinean could be available for around £14m and while his current side Lazio aren’t desperate to sell, Zarate has apparently fallen out of favour with the coaching staff and may be prepared to move on for regular first team action.

Zarate is 24 and operates as a winger or striker and he currently averages around a goal every four games in Serie A. While it’s not out of the question that he could improve things at the Lane it seems as if every striker that could conceivably be available is now being linked with a move to Spurs.

Readers may be forgiven for hoping that the Fernando Llorente rumours that are doing the rounds are a little more accurate.

      • The smartest comment I have read in ages. I 100% agree Llorente should not be allowed to leave the lane without putting pen to a spurs contract at all cost.

        • I noticed how Llorente and Dawson are the 2 on the front of the matchday poster on the spurs website, they obviously rate him.

I would have him over anyone else too, all these midget strikers wont fit in to our system, VDV has to start when fit and Llorente is perfect as the lone man.

I hope that Levy offers them what ever they want, it wont be easy as Bilbao wont be able to replace him due to there Basque rule.

This is unless he is utter shite on the day of course and Harry Kane comes on and scores a couple again

  1. Wasn’t all that impresive during his PL stint. If we’re going go after a wing forward type, Arda Turan would be #1 choice.

    • Turan – yeah, I remember him, we were pursuing him, what, a year ago? Great player. But unlikely for sale , at least not to us.

  2. I agree that Llorente would be the best choice for a foward which we desperately need. However, we cannot disregard the fact that Zarate is a pretty darn good player. I’m open to him signing for Spurs.

  3. If we have any intentions of finishing in the top 4 we need player’s like Llorente and Zarate because our forward line at present is seriously lacking potency. We need Crouch and Keane gone and replaced.

  4. wait….can people tell me bout zarate….dont know about him…is he actuallly good or just so so…..i was goning to put him in my list of dont wants like zomora, gilardino, joe cole, and others…..i really hope we sign somebody by end of this week…what you all think?

  5. hope theres no truth in this one hes no better than what we have already, its Fernando Llorente we need it always has been, a quality player that comes with a consitant scoring record.

  6. list of strikers to be signed, somewhat in the order i think we should be looking to sign them..

Falcao Aguero Higuain Benzema Cavani Hulk Lukaku Barrios
(just to get the obviously unlikely out of the way)

1.) Llorente (would seem a perfect fit in our current squad)

2.3.4.) Gomez Huntelaar Drogba (great out and out finishers, Huntelaar’s dutch link up with VDV would be nice..)

5.6.7.8.) Rossi Eto’o Adebayor Berbs (Rossi’s great but not lone striker also too much $$, and i believe we just signed Eto’os younger clone..)

9.10.11.12.) Negredo Vucinic Damiao Gyan (good strikers, not great strikers..Damiao’s price is looking ridiculous after signing that contract ext. better to wait on him)

    13. and beyond) Forlan, Osvaldo, Odemwingie, Erding, Park Chu-Young, Papiss Cisse [2nd in Budesliga in goals scored], Moussa Sow[top scorer in french league], Jose Rondon [only 21yrs looks promising]

    • Hi Mr Boobs

Your football knowledge is impressive, Jose Rondon looks wicked at Malaga but we have no chance of getting him as Malaga have the same financial power as Man City.

Of all the names mentioned I really think we should only consider 3:

Llorente- Perfect player big strong, plays for a worse club

Huntelaar- Natural goalscorer but not given regualr games at any club he has been at even though he scores when he plays, I guess Pato at Milan, Higuain at Real Madrid, and Raul at Schalke keeping you out of the starting line ups at his previous clubs is understandable.

Adebayor- He will be great in the big games, crap away against lesser teams, but if Harry can get him up for it week in week out he has more ability than most strikers in world football, I hate coming up against him as a spurs fan, He will deliver against Arsenal thats for sure

  7. Forget everyone else just get Llorente. The way he plays would be perfect for the PL. He is like Crouch but with muscles!

  8. Mr Boobs has to be a championship/football manager addict.LOL
Negredo and llorente for me, both have the attributes required to be a success in the prem.
Zarate done ok at Brum years ago, but not a 14m player in my opinion. I would only take him on loan with a view to perm transfer if successful

  9. Whatever happened to the rumors of Ibrahim Afellay? I haven’t heard anything about him in a week or so. Excellent player who would really fit in well in the Spurs midfield.
