After Spurs raced into a two goal lead over Liverpool last night it looked as if there would be at least a repeat of last season’s 4-0 home win. In the end, we were left hanging on for the points as the visitors pressed and after the game, AVB underlined just how important that start was.

“We were extremely good in the first half,” Andre said. “We managed to go 2-0 up, deserved it and it was important.

“Liverpool want to fight for the same objectives as us and at 2-0 down, they have to have a go. We didn’t look as good as the game finished, but we looked good at the beginning and we have to compliment the team for that.”

After Lennon and Bale had opened the scoring there were chances to finish the game off but even some Spurs fans will find it hard to argue that the visitors didn’t deserve a point. We’ve also seen similar incidences to the two penalty shouts where the spot kick has been given although they were nowhere near as clear cut as Brendan Rodgers tried to claim after the match.

Anyway – a win’s a win and we’re back up to fifth ahead of Saturday’s visit to Fulham.
