Many failed to see the real significance of Gareth Bale’s new three year deal with BT that was announced yesterday although it was widely claimed that it was a clear indication that the Welshman would be staying at Spurs for at least another season.
In the meantime, another Welsh Wing Wizard has spoken about the player, and Tottenham’s double winner Cliff Jones believes that Bale is perfectly happy where he is.
“Gareth is very happy with Tottenham,” said Jones.
“He is very happy, not only in the football sense but with life as well. He is very content, he’s had a baby daughter and he is very happy with his family life. His girlfriend is a Welsh girl and they like to get down to Wales.
Jones touched on the issue of Champions League football and tried to allay the fears of those fans who fear that Bale will be off if Spurs don’t finish in the top four at the end of the campaign.
“Of course Gareth and everyone linked with the club wants to be in the Champions League and he wants to be playing football at the highest level, but I think he will be at Tottenham for a while yet.”
We will know the answer this summer but it’s pleasing to see positive suggestions that Gareth will be playing his football at White Hart Lane for some time to come.
A magnificent player in the legendary early sixties side Cliff is well worth listening to, unlike non entities like Savage (very well named) who constantly spout off in the press about Bales need to move. I like Lennon enormously but the thought of the two Welsh flyers on the wings makes my mouth water.
Jones is too old unfortunatly AL. We’ll have to ‘make do!’ with Azza, who has shown he will track back just as much as the maruading Bale. COYS
