It’s been a while since Spurs were linked with a move for a defender and the name of Aly Cissokho is one that has previously appeared in the media. The 25 year old French international is currently with Valencia but like most players currently signed to that club, it’s felt that he could leave in the summer as the La Liga side look to trim their wage bill.

Cissokho is a left back, and that’s one area where Spurs have had issues through the season so it could make sense for us to go into the market and seek out either some additional cover or a direct replacement for BAE.

Speculation has been fuelled after the player went public over his frustration at lack of game time in Spain.

“In the second part of the season I don’t have as much playing time, unlike the first,” said Cissokho.

“Are English clubs my future? I am proud that my name is matched with these clubs but I’m fine here. I just hope to play more.”

Cissokho is a left back, Spurs conceivably need a left back but is Cissokho the real deal and is it necessary for the club to pursue someone in his position?

  1. You obviously don’t take much notice as we are linked with Lyon’s left-back, 19 year-old Samuel Umtiti, who took over from this guy, only yesterday!
