Any Spurs interest in Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic may have been brought to a close by the signing of Paulinho from Corinthians earlier this month but one or two sections of the media kept the story going – possibly due to the connection with our new technical director Franco Baldini.

However, with Arsenal also said to be hovering, the player has spoken about his future and insists he is going nowhere at this stage.

“I don’t want to leave and the club know that. Perhaps there was interest in me, but my objective has always been very clear,” said the Bosnian.

“I want to stay here and I arrived at pre-season prepared to help the team and start the championship well.”

Pjanic however admitted that he wasn’t aware of Roma’s intentions,

“Saying that, you never know what can happen in the transfer market and I don’t know the financial situation of the club, but I want to stay and they are aware of my desire,” he added.

So Pjanic may still leave Serie A this season but a switch to White Hart Lane now seems unlikely with a packed Tottenham midfield approaching the start of the new campaign.

  1. Please check out the post “Alen Halilovic – Family Knows Best” Very little has mentioned following a possible deal which collapsed on July 10. Can you add anything to the story? Front Office Thinking? Serious of the proposal and Zagreb’s response? – Thanks, ed
