It was almost too much to ask for Younes Kaboul to guide us through an injury crisis and there are reports that the Frenchman is a serious doubt for Thursday’s Europa League tie in Portugal after picking up a knock on Sunday. The stories go on to claim that the defender may not even travel with the squad and that would leave Spurs without a recognised centre half.

Jan Vertonghen is suspended for the second leg while Vlad Chiriches and Michael Dawson are ruled out with injuries of their own and that doesn’t leave Tim Sherwood with too many options. Another alternative – Etienne Capoue – is also set to stay on the sidelines so that could leave the only possible permutation of Sandro alongside Zeki Fryers.

It may not have too much bearing on a game where Tottenham will struggle to overturn a 3-1 deficit away from home but it could mean that the club has finally run out of patience with Younes Kaboul and a catalogue of injuries that would make Darren Anderton look reliable.

  1. Sorry but we should have got rid of Kaboul long ago.Great player when he’s not injured, which is about 5 games a season, the same pretty much applies to Sandro, love the guy,and Capoue. How can you build a solid defense when it changes every game through injury?.

    • I agree youth players has to be used, much better than playing players out of positions again??? Give fredericks, fryers a go!! Soldado deserves a good run out also.
