Paper talk is usually enough to get odds plummeting but so far the bookies have failed to react to stories linking Carlo Ancelotti with the Spurs manager’s job. With the current Real Madrid boss under extreme pressure as La Liga 2013-14 draws to a close, a legendary lack of patience within the club could lead to Ancelotti’s departure but does that necessarily make him a candidate at White Hart Lane?

The report has originated from the Daily Mail so read into that what you want but it picks up on the fact that Real have blown their lead at the top and slipped to third following back to back defeats against Barca and Sevilla.

As Tottenham fans are acutely aware, the Madrid club invested heavily in the close season with Ancelotti the man chosen to deliver the domestic title.

However the market is largely unmoved with Ancelotti out as high as 50/1 with Paddy Power although Stan James are quoting as little as 16/1. Meanwhile, Louis Van Gaal is way out in front as the odds on favourite.

What’s your opinion on the rumour? The first part is more than plausible with Real parting with their manager if they don’t take the title but from there we’re not so sure?
