At first glance, last night’s stark ‘Adebayor Update’ notice on the club’s official website might have been a worrying one after reporting that the striker had been hit by a bought of malaria. However, it appears that the condition is only a mild one and while the Togolese will miss the first raft of pre-season games, he should return way ahead of the new Premiership campaign.

Part of the statement reads,

“The Togo international was admitted to hospital on Saturday after reporting feeling unwell to our medical staff. A swift diagnosis meant the disease was detected at an early stage and he is responding well to treatment. The striker is expected to be released from hospital tomorrow and will then require a minimum of seven days before returning to training.”

So Ade will return and hopefully, there will be no debilitating effects as he lines up under Mauricio Pochettino for the first time.

  1. I believe you mean ’bout’, though I wouldn’t be surprised if Ade ‘bought’ malaria in order to get out of putting in any effort in pre-season. Has he ever had a pre-season with us?
Hopefully the Border Agency will dump him in quarantine for a year, by which time his contract will have expired and we won’t have to see him (dis)grace the pitch at WHL again!

  2. what a bunch of dicks on here. Give the guy a break .

Last time he had a Full Pre season . he banged in 17 goals and 10 assists.

He is a top striker . Spurs won’t get anyone better.

at the end of the day he fell out with AVB . he was right AVB tactics are all wrong . they guy was a muppet.

    • I agree with Peter, can the idiots on this site please sit down? Now constructively speaking, we definitely could pick up a more exciting striker, but Ade is not that bad. Just not good enough to get that pay…
