Few would possibly agree but after a dramatic last few minutes saw Spurs snatch the points at Villa Park, Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino claimed that his side deserved the win. With Christian Benteke sent off, the hosts lost their outlet up front and finally, goals from Nacer Chadli and a deflected free kick from Harry Kane cancelled out Weimann’s opener.

“We deserved the victory, the team worked hard and showed their character. In the end the points are the most important thing,” Mauricio told Sky.

When asked if he was relieved at the outcome, the manager replied.

“No. If you have a good result you are a great manager, if you lose you are a bad manager.

“We have our idea, our philosophy and we need time, but it was important to get this result today.”

Few of us would be convinced but a win is a win and the main positive must be Kane’s performance and the fact that now, he will surely start in the league ahead of the ineffective Adebayor.

  1. Smashing result, iffy performance but Harry’s goal, it brought back feelings of Gazzas free kick against the goons, or Bales double in Europe (for its importance)… I know it took a massive deflection but I just rewatched it 10 times and the best thing about it was the celebration… even the lazy belgian / french lads busted a gut to celebrate… honestly, if u can, re watch it, about ten players suddenly accelerate to celebrate at a rate i’ve not seen us play all season….. if they can play coming games with the same speed the celebrate a goal… they’ve been lazy gutless premadonnas prior to this game… hope its a turning point. COYS COY Harry Kane
