Tottenham were only linked with the Everton forward Kevin Mirallas this morning and already the saga seems to have taken a twist.

During Everton’s match with West Brom tonight, the home side won a penalty just before half-time. Mirallas snatched hold of the ball and seemed to insist that he would take the spot kick, despite the arguments of some of his teammates who expected Leighton Baines to step up.

Mirallas missed before being substituted at half-time and the row is likely to intensify speculation that the Belgian international will leave Goodison Park. The player is stalling over a new contract and it has been suggested that Spurs could offer Aaron Lennon to Everton in a swap deal. Here’s the penalty and the reaction of his manager Roberto Martinez.
