Tottenham are interested in signing Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe this summer, according to reports in France.

Spurs have already been linked with a Monaco player this week — Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be keen on bringing winger Thomas Lemar to England this summer.

Now, French publication L’Equipe (as relayed by SportWitness) claims Tottenham have “expressed interest” in signing right-back Sidibe.

The 24-year-old was a key part of a Monaco side that won the Ligue 1 title and reached the Champions League semi-finals last season, scoring against Pochettino’s side along the way.

Sidibe is primarily a right-sided defender, but he can also play on the left. His versatility is probably one of the key reasons Pochettino is a fan.

Spurs could face competion for the Frenchman from the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal. Of course, if City pursue Kyle Walker, that could give Tottenham a free run at Sidibe.

And if Spurs face a one-on-one battle with Arsenal for Sidibe, the supporters will hope Champions League football is a big enough draw to convince him where to go.
