Tottenham have lodged a £22 million offer for Nice forward Alassane Plea, according to reports in France.

Plea scored 21 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions for Nice in 2017-18, including 16 in 34 Ligue 1 games – an average of an almost a goal every other match.

According to French outlet FootMercato, Spurs have identified Plea as their primary alternative to Manchester United striker Anthony Martial.

What’s more, they’ve apparently already made a £22 million bid for the 25-year-old.

Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be eager to recruit a forward to provide cover and competition for Harry Kane this summer.

The Argentinian also wants said forward to be able to play out wide, which is why Martial has emerged as one of Tottenham’s primary targets.

But Manchester United’s reluctance to sell to a Premier League rival could see Spurs look elsewhere.

For that reason Plea appears to be a viable alternative. However, there will be question marks over his ability to replicate his form in a tougher league.

The France Under-21 international will also be much cheaper than Martial, although the United man would arguably be worth the extra money.

  1. I don’t know this guy, but if Manure want 75M for Martial then we are best to NOT want Martial….he is just NOT worth that much money. Not too many French players seem to do well at Spurs.
