Tottenham are still monitoring Fiorentina striker Giovanni Simeone, according to reports in Italy.

Simeone is the son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone and has been linked with Spurs before.

Last month, reports claimed both Tottenham and Atletico were interested in signing the 23-year-old, who has scored 27 Serie A goals since the beginning of the 2016-17 campaign.

He has started this season with a goal and assist after two league outings.

And according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Spurs continue to track Simeone – although they may face competition for his signature from Barcelona.

Mauricio Pochettino currently lacks capable cover and competition for Harry Kane despite the best efforts of Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen.

With that in mind, Tottenham may choose to pursue another striker in January having failed to make a single signing over the summer.

Previous reports suggested Fiorentina value Simeone, who has four years remaining on his current contract, at around €40 million (£35.8m).

It’s difficult to see Spurs spending that kind of money in January, but who knows?
