Tottenham have not been approached by Real Madrid, or any other club, over Christian Eriksen, according to ESPN.

Yesterday, we relayed reports from Spain suggesting Spurs had slapped a £220 million price tag on Eriksen – more than the world record fee Paris Saint-Germain paid for Neymar in the summer of 2017 – amid fresh interest from Real Madrid.

However, ESPN claims there has been no contact between Tottenham and any potential buyer.

Eriksen’s current contract expires in the summer of 2020 and there has been much debate about whether he is prepared to sign a new deal with Spurs.

The Dane scored the crucial winning goal in Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League at Wembley, keeping Tottenham’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the competition alive.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side now must better Inter’s result in the final round of group games – Inter will be favourites against PSV Eindhoven at home, so it’s likely Spurs will have to beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

Hopefully Eriksen doesn’t play too well against Real Madrid’s biggest rivals…
