Tottenham are interested in signing Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch but could face competition from Arsenal, according to reports in Germany.

Grillitsch, 23, has made 18 appearances across all competitions so far this season, scoring one goal.

The central midfielder has made 13 appearances for his country, Austria, and played for Hoffenheim against Manchester City in the Champions League this week.

According to German outlet Bild, Grillitsch’s agent travelled to England this week, possibly to talk to potential buyers.

Spurs and Arsenal are said to be the clubs interested, although it’s unclear if either club has made an official approach for the Austrian.

Mauricio Pochettino is likely to target a new central midfielder either in January or next summer.

That’s because Mousa Dembele is out of contract at the end of the season and Tottenham will need to recruit a long-term replacement.

The Londoners have also been linked with Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, who is currently on a season-long loan at Everton.

Meanwhile, Bild claim a Spurs player may be on his way to Germany – find out more here.
