Tottenham Hotspur sent scouts to watch Benfica starlet Jota this week, according to reports in Portugal.

Jota was playing for Portugal’s Under-20s in a 1-0 victory against England on Tuesday night.

Portuguese outlet A Bola – as relayed by Sports Mole – claims Spurs scouts were in attendance to cast an eye over Jota.

The 19-year-old forward, who was linked with Tottenham earlier this month, has made just three senior appearances for Benfica this season.

However, he is very highly rated with Bayern Munich said to hold an interest.

Jota’s current contract has a £25 million release clause in it, which proves how highly Benfica value him at such a young age.

What’s more, Benfica are believed to be keen to agree fresh terms on a new long-term contract for the teenager, which could see his release clause increase even more.

Whether Spurs are willing to pay a big fee for an unproven player removes to be seen, but Bayern Munich’s interest suggests Jota could be worth the money.
