Atletico Madrid have made an offer for Real Betis midfielder and alleged Tottenham Hotspur target Giovani Lo Celso, according to reports in Spain.

Earlier this month, we relayed reports suggesting Spurs have spoken to Betis about signing Lo Celso but a deal is far from done.

The Argentinian apparently has an £88 million release clause in his contract but Tottenham are said to have only offered around £53 million.

And now the Londoners appear to be facing competition from La Liga’s biggest club outside of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo claims Atletico Madrid have lodged a bid for Lo Celso, although it’s unclear how much they are willing to pay for the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, the Mirror believes Spurs are prepared to break their transfer record twice this summer to sign Lo Celso and Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Ndombele has been heavily linked with Tottenham this week but interest from Juventus and potentially others could scupper Mauricio Pochettino’s chances of recruiting the Frenchman.

Given the amount of stories about both Lo Celso and Ndombele moving to Spurs, it will be disappointing unless at least one of them joins the club.
