Real Betis are prepared to sell Tottenham Hotspur target Giovani Lo Celso for £67 million this summer but Manchester United have emerged as favourites to sign the midfielder, according to i News.
Earlier this week, we relayed reports suggesting Spurs are battling Atletico Madrid for Lo Celso’s signature.
The Argentinian apparently has an £88 million release clause in his contract, but i News believes Betis are willing to let him go for £67 million.
If that’s the case, Tottenham would still have to smash their transfer record to sign him. However, the Londoners are now facing competition from Manchester United.
The i News story cites reports from Spain that claim a Betis delegation travelled to England this week, presumably to enter discussions with United over a deal for Lo Celso, making the Red Devils favourites to sign him.
There could now be a bidding war between Tottenham, United and Atletico, which is likely to result in the transfer saga being dragged out until towards the end of the summer window.
Hopefully we get a bit more clarity about the situation in the near future.
