Tottenham defender Juan Foyth is set to leave the club this summer – with Football Insider revealing that Spurs are expected to tell the defender that he needs to find a new club.
Foyth, who was signed by Mauricio Pochettino from Estudiantes in 2017, has never really lived up to expectations in north London and has started just once in the Premier League this season – the 2-2 draw with Norwich City back in late-December.
And after making a costly error which allowed Mario Vrancic to open the scoring for the Canaries, the 22-year-old was hooked at half-time and hasn’t been named in a matchday squad since.
Foyth’s only other appearance under Jose Mourinho came in the dead rubber Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich two weeks earlier, where the centre-back received a great deal of praise from the Spurs boss, who said: “He was very stable, very solid, very calm. He played very very well.”
However, that mistake at Norwich looks to be the final straw for Foyth – with the report from the Football Insider suggesting that despite Mourinho blocking a potential loan move in January, he’ll let the Argentine find a new club at the end of the season.
