Villarreal want to sign Tottenham defender on a permanent basis this summer, according to Football Insider.

The Argentine defender made the switch to La Liga last summer, making 25 appearances in all competitions, scoring once.

Foyth hardly featured during the early parts of his loan spell, but has become a regular under former Arsenal boss Unai Emery, starting seven league games on the bounce until he wasn’t involved at Granada on Saturday.

Foyth still has more than two years remaining on his deal at Tottenham, but wasn’t fancied by Jose Mourinho and appeared just three times following his appointment in November 2019.

Football Insider believe that the Spanish outfit paid Spurs £1.3m for Foyth’s services last summer, and could sign him permanently for £13m once his loan expires, a deal they’re already currently working on – with Foyth himself keen on the move.

Foyth got his fair share of chances under Mauricio Pochettino, but his days at Tottenham have always appeared limited since Mourinho came in, meaning we think this transfer has every chance of happening.

  1. If spurs are to ever be serious about winning something rather than just making money then they need to sell the average players.
Dier, Sanchez, aurier, Doherty, Toby (too old), winks, sissoko, foyth and alli. The players sold plus a couple of fringe players out on loans could generate about £150 million pounds not to mention wages cleared. Bring in quality defenders and a couple of quality midfielders all with a winning mentality and if we can keep kane and sonny we would have a real shot next season of actually winning something.
