Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed that Tanguy Ndombele isn’t injured -and simply isn’t ready to be playing right now.

The midfielder wasn’t named in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the Euro’s, but didn’t play a single minute in any of Tottenham’s five pre-season outings despite being amongst the first batch of players to return to Hotspur Way earlier last month.

Ndombele has had constant fitness problems since his arrival from Lyon two years ago, but appeared to put those issues behind him when he played 46 games in all competitions last season.

However, the 24-year-old’s no-show in pre-season has once again raised questions marks over his future in north London.

Speaking after Tottenham’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal in their final friendly before they host Manchester City in their season-opener next Sunday, Santo told Football.London: “We have all the players, we have to assess all the individual aspects of each and every one of the players.

“Tanguy is not with us today. He is not injured but we consider it is not yet the moment for him to be part of the game.”

  1. He’ll probably get sold last minute too so Levy ends up in pocket and not out of pocket, god forbid Levy should spend any money on the squad. Get these parasites out of our club, LEVY, ENIC & TIGHT FISTED LEWIS OUT !!!

      • Yeah – seriously – stop moaning. We were dog before ENIC.

How you think we have a god given right as ‘tottenham’ to be much more than West Ham and Newcastle I’ve no idea.

    • Well said Tony. Only problem levy , Enic and Billionaire Lewis will never go away because spurs fans are happy supporting a team that never wins anything. Just read the replies . If Enic etc owned man utd they would have demonstrations every week.

    • Agreed bro levy n co have to go or nuthing will change at spurs if kane does go mid table team at best odd semi I’m sick of it if we had just improved when we were doing well wouldnt be an issue but coz we didn’t we have fell behind loads Villa r more feared than us n be higher in league than us this year

  2. Ndombele is incredible when he has the ball at his feet. But unfortunately for him, it requires a lot more than this to be a success in the EPL. You have to be willing to fight for your place, for the ball, and to defend as much as you attack. He is much more suited in France or Spain where he can focus on just attacking and not worry about defending.

If we are lucky, Sissoko, Davies, Sanchez ,Aurier and Winks will also move on. They are all deadwood. If Coady comes in then hopefully Dier will move on too. I would expect at least 1 if not 2 players who were on loan last season to be given the chance to stake a claim for 1st team this season. This can be like 2 new signings hopefully.

    • I was following your line of arguement, but you went of in a total different direction in addressing Ndombele. Believe it or not, the EPL cannot deal with skillful players who demand the ball at their feet to be effective. There are English players like Hudson adoi, Sterling, and throw Wilf Zaha, Jesus, and Firmino the system most of these coaches deploy do not cater for skillful dribbling player. Look at the league and see how many south American players in that league. It is a shame because every manager come with there system and decided certain players do not fit their system. What is the player supposed to do?

  3. Ben Davies, Aurier , Sanchez, Scissors, must be sold
    They are not good enough
Spurs should buy two new strikers in place of Kane plus one more central defender
Spurs always buy Atlantic minute which is not good idea

  4. Dare to do….Do to dare….we are never going to compete with the top 4 unless we take chances and buy our 1st choice players meaning quality players Spurs are and will always be a 2nd rated improvement team..some of us have been supporting Spurs like me for over 40 years & i haven’t seen real progress..we should of built on our CL Finals that was are chance to become a top Team but we never did we just went backwards..such a shame.

    • Moaning about Levy, yet at a time money after Covid is tighter he’s bought in the amazing Paratici. Then Gollini, Gil and Romero with more to follow.

  5. Spurs will always be in this state as long as Levy is in charge. Nuno is a good manager
Kane is not a loss gone passed sell by date
