Newcastle United are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli, according to Spanish outlet Publication Sport.

It’s been a mixed start to the campaign for the 25-year-old, who started the opening six Premier League games, but paid the price for his poor showing in the north London derby when he found himself on the bench against Aston Villa the following week.

Alli, who remained on the bench against Dean Smith’s side, had scored in the Europa Conference League game with minnows Mura four days earlier but the midfielder has been unable to rediscover his best form despite being used heavily under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Following the victory against Villa, Alli is unlikely to return to the starting XI for the trip to Newcastle on Sunday.

And Publication Sport believe that Steve Bruce’s side are keen on signing Alli after their takeover was confirmed on Thursday.

Alli has been a great servant to the club over the years, but his time at Tottenham does feel like it’s coming to an end, and with Newcastle expected to spend big in both January and the summer, a switch to St James’ Park would be a move in the right direction for him.

  1. Its tragic what has happened to Dele and our club through Hitchen’s disgraceful recruitment, not replacing eriksen or dembele, appointing that fraud Jose and now with paratici scrapping the best team we’ve ever had in favour of some new long term counter attacking project. The players that were signed in the summer werent the players we needed to kick on or to balance our squad, they were purely shrewd business signings for future sales, in positions that werent priorities, whilst our urgent priorities were neglected at the expense of this season.

Dele deserves better than what we are or what we are trying to become, which amounts to uncreative, unintelligent, uninspiring, unwatchable mid table dogshit.

I’ve heard fans criticise dele’s season and praise that of lucas, even though dele has done more from midfield than lucas has done from a foward position. Toxic managers like jose expose the fickleness of fans towards players, and sadly fans wont appreciate dele until hes destroying us in opposition colours, long after nuno has been and gone.
