Tottenham have made an enquiry about Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco but a deal has been rated ‘no chance’, according to The Athletic.

Reliable journalist David Ornstein claims a number of clubs, including Spurs, explored a move for Carrasco but it is now too late to get a deal done.

It is believed the Belgian’s release clause expired last week, making a cheap move all but impossible to strike before tonight’s deadline.

Ornstein says Atletico may try to sell Carrasco again in the summer, though there is no indication as to whether Tottenham will extend their interest beyond the current window.

Thankfully, Spurs are reportedly set to sign Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski, so they should have plenty of depth in wide areas for the remainder of the season.

That said, Antonio Conte will surely want to strengthen even further next term, so don’t rule out a summer move for Carrasco or a similar player.

Tottenham are also said to be closing in on a deal for Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur on what could be a busy deadline day – stay tuned to TottenhamBlog.com for updates.
