Tottenham have asked Leicester City to keep them informed of Riyad Mahrez’s situation as they continue to monitor the winger, according to The London Evening Standard.

Mahrez wants to leave Leicester this summer and has been linked with Arsenal and Roma.

But Spurs have emerged as genuine competitors to sign the Algerian, although Leicester will have to lower their £50 million valuation of Mahrez for Tottenham to make a move.

Spurs are the only Premier League club yet to sign a player this summer.

They have been heavily linked with Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, but could face competition from Arsenal and Manchester United for the 23-year-old.

Tottenham were apparently close to signing the young Argentine defender Juan Foyth before Paris Saint-Germain made a late swoop. No deal is done yet with the French club.

Mahrez would be a fantastic signing if Mauricio Pochettino could reignite the 26-year-old’s form from Leicester’s title-winning season in 2015/16.
