Tottenham are interested in signing Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen, according to reports in Italy.

The 22-year-old centre-back joined Sampdoria from FC Twente last year and has represented Denmark all the way up to Under-21 level.

He is expected to become a regular for the senior Danish national team, where he will become teammates with Spurs playmaker Christian Eriksen.

And the pair could also become club teammates if a report from Sport Mediaset is anything to go on.

The Italian outlet claims Spurs are keen on Andersen but will have to pay around £26.5 million if they want to sign him in January.

Tottenham could be in need of a new centre-back in the upcoming transfer window with Toby Alderweireld’s contract situation still uncertain.

Reports earlier this week suggested Barcelona and Manchester United remain interested in the Belgian, and Spurs may be open to selling him midway through the season.

The Londoners have also been linked with former Chelsea defender Nathan Ake, who currently plays for Bournemouth.

This is the first we’ve heard of any Andersen rumours, so keep an eye on this one.
